Synopsis Manga Smoking Behind the Supermarket with You
The story centers on Sasaki, a 45-year-old middle-aged man who works as an office worker (salaryman). His work life is exhausting, stressful, and monotonous. Sasaki’s only source of entertainment and mental “escape” after a long day at work is stopping by a 24-hour supermarket called Super S.
There, he is always cheered up by the friendly smile and warm service of Yamada, a cheerful young cashier. Sasaki secretly admires Yamada as a source of healing for his weary soul.
One night, after an extremely exhausting shift, Sasaki rushed to the supermarket only to find that Yamada’s shift had already ended. Feeling disappointed and needing an outlet for his stress, Sasaki intended to smoke. However, he struggled to find a smoking area and felt uncomfortable under the stares of those around him.
What the innocent Sasaki didn’t realize was that Tayama was actually Yamada. Outside of her working hours as a neat and elegant supermarket cashier, Yamada transforms into “Tayama”—a laid-back, bold, smoking-loving, and slightly mischievous figure.
